A Samad Said - master wordsmith, literary warrior…
Abdul Samad bin Muhamad Said, A Samad Said and more affectionately, Pak Samad. Monikers of a man who is such an iconic figure in Malay literature, one could almost say that his name is synonymous with it. He has traversed all genres of the written form - from plays to novels, short stories to poetry - yet he is as humble and enthusiastic about working as before he became a published author, playwright and poet.
Pak Samad’s sharp observation and detailed writing style transforms his stories of ordinary people facing petty problems into something of a larger significance; creating subtle layers of meaning and different dimensions to what is commonplace.
