Pesta Raya will open with Paluan Rantau a Nusantara Percussion Weekend highlighting a variety of forms and playing styles of percussions from the Malay archipelago (referred to as Nusantara in the Malay language). The programme will be led by Teater Tari Era under the artistic direction of Osman Hamid (Singapore) and Tom Ibnur (Indonesia) together with Noer Trajoe from Indonesia and I-Yan Pulse from Singapore.
Also featured on the same weekend are precocious singing and dancing talents in Si Cilik Beraksi. As part of our efforts to include relevant programmes for the young in Pesta Raya, these little big talents from Sriwana will work us up with their antics.
On Saturday night (10 Oct) from 10pm, enjoy a festive community night of Rembak!
A ronggeng dance night.
The second weekend will throw a spotlight on the cultural troupe from Yayasan Warisan Johor and Teater Tari Era bursting with songs and dances from the Southern state of Malaysia. Over to the mystical central islands of Indonesia, indulge in a session of Javanese poetry battle in a slick hip-hop style by the Jogja Hip-Hop Foundation.
